Is It Time to Shake Up Your Approach To Wealth Management?

February 22, 2024

When you think of traditional wealth management, what comes to mind? If you’re picturing a lot of Kens telling you how to manage your money from their mojo dojo casa houses, you’re not far off. One of the leading qualities of the traditional economic model that has existed for many years is that it’s patriarchal. It is a social system defined by men and for the benefit of men. Let me be clear, this is not about pointing fingers, it is about acknowledging a system that exists. But guess what? Just because this system exists, doesn’t mean it’s best for all of us.

That’s why we set out to shake up these traditions and create a system that works for everyone. At WatersEdge Wealth Management, we have a human-centered approach. We seek to create equality in an environment where everyone has a seat at a table full of opportunities.

In the traditional system, there is a hierarchy. People can be ranked above one another according to their wealth, connections, and social standing. You’ll notice that you don’t have a lot of say in this model as your status is decided by others. Inequality is reinforced by all of these external factors. If you don’t have enough money or you don’t surround yourself with the right people, you're dropped down to the bottom of the patriarchal system.

That sounds like it would be beneficial to a small number of people. Which is why we want a mutually beneficial relationship. If we cooperate and collaborate, we all benefit and share the responsibility. Our system isn’t so rigid and we work toward the common good, which is actually possible when you break down hierarchical barriers. Imagine that!

If you’re feeling shut out of your financial planning because you’re trapped in this traditional system that’s no longer serving you, it’s time to shake it up and seek out a more flexible, mutual, and HUMAN approach to your wealth management. We might be biased, but we think we’re the right team to help! Dare we say, we are Kenough?!
